Artist Statement

 I like answers. But, like everyone, I don’t have access to them all. Painting, woodworking, ceramics, drawing, or any other form of handiwork gives me a space to wrestle with that while switching back and forth from creating a narrative, and following a process with a predictable outcome. Beyond that, I love intentionality, detail, and order. And I pull most of my definitions for those terms from architecture found anywhere from the Classical period up to the Baroque period, and from my faith in the Lord who created everything we know with intentionality, detail, and order. I create in a search for answers, and, because I know I will never know everything, I create to process that. Working with this in mind helps me to stay in communication with the Lord, myself, and others around me who are looking for answers too. I will never know it all, but I know the Lord, and I know how to make a cabinet, and that is a good start.
